It’s time for the second Lovember writing challenge! This is a self-paced romance writing challenge taking place in November where you can write your heart out. #Lovember2025 is for writers who want to write about love and romance: self-love, romantic love, platonic love, familial love, and more. You might describe yourself as a romance author, or you might just want to experiment with building more in-depth relationships between your characters.
Participation is completely free, and it isn’t an organised event where you need to sign up. The purpose of #Lovember2025 is to inspire people to write. All prompts are available in this blog post and on my social media accounts, but it’s entirely up to you how you want to participate.
This is the second ever Lovember challenge. Want to see last year’s challenge? Check out the #Lovember2024 writing prompts.
Happy writing!

Storyline prompts
There are 5 storyline prompts which can be used as scene inspiration, chapter inspiration, or as a concept for short stories and writing exercises.
Because there are 5 weeks in November, you can choose to use the storyline prompts as weekly writing challenges.

Your character has had the summer from hell, but there was one silver lining…
While taking a photo of the view, your character doesn’t notice the other get down on one knee.
Your characters order the same drink at a cafe, but get each other’s food order.
Two couples join together for a double wedding, only for four people to fall in love.
A journalling workshop isn’t the most thrilling of dates, but it helps them bare their souls.
Character prompts
Finally, here are the 7 character prompts. You can use these to inspire background characters, protagonists, or writing exercises as you like. There’s one character prompt for every day of the week.

A character with a green thumb uses plants to romance their crush.
A fashionable character who designs a signature outfit to impress on first dates.
A K-Pop fan who matches their date nights to songs they love.
A thrifty character who upcycles everything into the perfect gifts for their partner.
The owner of an enchanting cottage in the countryside.
A book club host who matchmakes others through the art of picking out the perfect books.
A character who is just here for the free snacks and ends up falling in love.
How to make the most of #Lovember2025
Because this is a self-paced writing challenge, you can do whatever works for you this month. You can even save the prompts for when you have more time to write if November doesn’t work for you!
Here’s some ideas for how you can make the most of #Lovember2025:
- Choose some prompts that align with your current writing project and incorporate them into the story. Perhaps you’ve been stuck on how your love interests are going to meet, so you pick something like ‘bookshop‘ or ‘wedding‘ as your inspiration.
- Host a writing sprint with friends or on a livestream, where you use one prompt for 15/30/60 minutes of writing at a time.
- Warm up on your writing days with a writing exercise inspired by a prompt. The writing exercise could just be a way to get something on the page, or you could focus on different elements of writing: describing settings, clothes, or mannerisms; practising dialogue; trying a new style or tense; or anything else you’d like to focus on.
- Think about your goal for the month. What do you want to get out of the challenge? You might want to write every day, or just one day a week. You might want to get unstuck on your current writing project, so you need to get in the mood at the start of your writing time. You might want to experiment with characters, relationships, and dialogue. Setting a goal and writing it down as a reminder can help guide you to make the most of your writing time.
